Our favorite (and not so favorite) looks of the 2018 MTV VMAs!

New York City's very own Radio City Music Hall hosted yet another iconic MTV Video Music Award this past Monday. Artists like Cardi B, Ariana Grande, and Childish Gambino took home well deserved trophies for their outstanding work this past year.

But what's more exciting than watching our favorite artists accept their awards on stage? The red carpet, of course! This year's VMA red carpet looks gave us all sorts of mixed feelings. For some, halloween came a little early while others had us in absolute awe! We broke down our favorite and least favorite looks of the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.

Our Favorite Looks

1. Millie Bobby Brown

We loved this Rosie Assoulin jumpsuit on young Stranger Things actress, Millie Bobby Brown. Featuring an A-symmetrical waistline, mesh ruffled sleeves, and exposed midriff paired with natural make-up, slicked parted hair and stunning, clear see-through Christian Louboutin heels. Brown, only 14 years old, looked sophisticated, feminine, and timeless in this gorgeous piece. (Amber Rose- take notes!)

2. Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner never fails to make a fashion statement. This time, she embraced her Forbes "Self-Made" Billionaire title in this signature white Tom Ford ensemble. Featuring boxy shoulder pads, slicked back blonde hair, and a sharp v-cut neckline- the young star definitely looked like a successful CEO. While some of us believed that Jenner's red carpet look could have been more impressive, she looked good nonetheless.

3. Karlie Kloss

Supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss looked stunning in this breathtaking Elie Saab gown. From the gunmetal, metallic fabric to the twin high slits, Kloss was serving looks and we could not get enough!

4. Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is and always will be a legend. This woman does it all- acting, singing, dancing, mom-ing with elegance and fierceness. After a jaw dropping performance and heartwarming speech, Jennifer Lopez took home the Best Collaboration award for the song "Dinero" featuring DJ Khaled and Cardi B and of course, the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. We adored how Jennifer Lopez radiated in this metallic Versace gown.

5. Amara La Negra

Singer and entertainer Amara La Negra looked absolutely breathtaking in this electric green Valentino Omar gown featuring a cape overlay, gold embroidery, and mermaid skirt. Everything about this look screams perfection from her hair to the make-up, La Negra looked like a goddess.

Our Not so Favorite Looks :(

1. Amber Rose

No words could describe our reaction to Amber Rose on the 2018 VMAs red carpet, mainly because we were speechless (and not in a good way.) Amber Rose is known for her unapologetic attitude and advocacy for feminism, which we love. However, this look was over the top, even for a costume party. Between the bullet bra and the thonged crotch, we feel there are far better ways to make a statement than this leather nightmare.

2. Blac Chyna

It seems that red carpet etiquette was completely flushed down the toilet in 2018. Blac Chyna wore a this unflattering pink two-piece made of chain with a white g-string peeking from beneath the skirt. Blac Chyna is known for her risque style but this look was unlike anything we have seen before... and we wish we could unsee it.

3. Kim Petras

Pop singer and songwriter, Kim Petras, really embraced the Flinstones aesthetic in this pink and black A-symmetrical Moschino dress. Everything about this look left us confused, especially the white stockings and gloved sleeve. We want to have a word with her stylist to understand what was going through their mind when formulating this outfit.

4. Blake Lively

We love Blake Lively and admire many of her previous red carpet looks but this year did not do it for us at all. The white jacket paired with parachute dress pants did no justice to her figure and looked mismatched. We saw potential from the waist up but overall, the entire look fell short from fashionable.

5. Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is undeniably talented but many of her looks in the previous years have been questionable and this 2018 red carpet look is no exception. The ill-fitting Off-White bodysuit layered with this mesh tulle looked cheap and effortless. Even the color seemed like a poor choice for the award-winning artist. We appreciate a risk taker but Nicki Minaj's look was unimpressive.
